You want to reach more and grow…
But you don’t have 99 hours in a week to be visible for your online business.
What’s an enterprising online entrepreneur to do?
You could…
- create till you’re in tears
- give up…no one is listening anyway
- OR leverage blogging and SEO to increase your online presence
I know which one you are going to do!
Leverage old content
Old content shouldn’t be treated like it is expired produce. Your older content is a gold mine for you to leverage to increase your online presence.
Why??
Because it’s work you’ve already done and most likely it is content that doesn’t go bad at a certain date. But you can always adjust it if needed.
But the beauty is that just because it is older content doesn’t mean you can’t drive traffic to it.
I know in the online space we talk about creating new content to keep our blogs fresh and this is important because no only does it keep you active it gives you more content to share.
Just don’t forget about the power of the blog work you’ve already done. In most cases, your audience has shifted enough that they either have never seen your old content or they aren’t going to remember you wrote about that in the first place.
So share it again.
Update & optimize posts for SEO
This one is really important for old content and new content.
Learn the basic SEO practices and add them to your new content as you are creating it. Then spend a little time each week going back and updating your older content so it is stronger for your online presence.
Get a plugin like Yoast SEO to help you optimize each blog post you write. It will give you a score and suggestions on how to improve each post that way you don’t have to try and remember all the different optimization rules.
Do take this seriously because your people are out there looking for you and with a few minutes on each post you can set yourself up to be seen by them in search results.
Research SEO for your current blog topics
It’s not the time to stop researching SEO keywords for your blogging topics.
This gives you not only an idea of what people are searching for but also expands your idea list with more supporting topics. Which brings me to my next suggestion.
Create your content pillars and build new supporting content around them
Once you have your basic pillars of content you want to look for blog post topics that are more of a supporting role and help strengthen that original topic.
By having more content tied to your pillar you are positioning yourself as the expert on that topic. And bonus, by talking about the topic multiple times in multiple ways you are giving yourself an even better opportunity to show up in search results based on your keywords that you’ve optimized your posts for.

This will give you a lot of resources to work with when you are either creating new content or updating your older content to keep driving traffic your way.
You may be thinking…well I wrote on ABC topic there really isn’t more to say about it. But I challenge you to change your perspective.
There are always more opportunities to grow and expand you just have to be looking for them.
Now it’s your turn!
